Ping Pong League
Submitted by webmaster on Wed, 04/01/2009 - 14:46.
This is a ranked league. Everyone who signed up in advance has been given "random" ranks. If you missed out on signing up ahead of time, there's still hope! Send an email to wwu.acm.officers at gmail.com stating that you wish to join. Please note that you will be placed at the bottom of the rankings.
To view the current rankings, come to CF405
Because this is a league, please do not stall. This means that you shouldn't deny every challenge issued to you. If we see a player doing this, they'll be moved to the lowest rank. This also goes the other way. Try to play matches once a month. One of the reasons we're starting this league is to encourage people to meet and have fun.
Challenges
To determine how high up you can challenge, divide your rank by 2 (round up) - minimum of 3.
Example 1: If you are ranked 11, then you can challenge anyone between ranks 10 and 6.
Example 2: If you are ranked 4, then you can challenge anyone between ranks 3 and 1.
To make a challenge, contact them! At the end of this email is a list of participants with their emails. Please keep this email for reference.
After issuing a challenge, you have one week to hold the match.
Additionally, you can only have one challenge at a time. This means that if you have been challenged by Mr. A, and now Mr. B wants to challenges you, you have to say no to Mr. B.
Matches
Game is till 11 points
Serve switches every 2 points
On duece, serve switches every point
No serving out of hand
Hand on table = Foul!
1 Match is defined as the best 2 out of 3
Results
Opponent wins: no changes are made
Challenger wins: the players switch ranks
If the match doesn't happen within a week of the challenge - no changes to ranks are made, it is as if the challenge never happened.
